My name is Jeff and I live in Kansas City. I am primarily sending you this email because I would greatly appreciate any input you feel like adding to my story. I was on my way to get a haircut...
...when I passed by a newspaper stand filled with the popular periodical XXX. I was inclined to pick up one of the free weekly papers because of the featured story on the front. A woman stands on the cover consuming (not a footlong sub) but "The Bible" of all things. I couldn't resist. Knowing this paper's view on religion and Christianity I immediately assumed I was about to hear yet another form of a "Christian insert foot in mouth" (or maybe Bible in someone else's mouth) incident.
Instead I found myself overwhelmed with emotion (mainly compassion and some anger) and compassion towards the columnist and anger towards myself. She talks of a recent visit to a local (mega) church (whatever that means) where she was following a story on the pastor. The pastor has become a public mouthpiece for the necessity of a vote on the ballot in the state of Kansas to protect the institute of marriage between a man and a woman.
I almost stopped reading (because I could write the script on the conversation between a conservative pastor in the midwest talking to political officials on the importance of perserving the sanctity of marriage), but I was intrigued by this journalist vulnerability and willingness to learn.
I don't want to spoil the article. I have attached the link for you to scan for yourself.

This is where you come in. I feel compelled to reach out to [the journalist]. I suppose I would like to send a message to her that there is a place that values marriage, but values people more. Any input would be wonderful. Thank you for your time.
Answer: I wish I had time to read the link, etc., but I just don’t. I wanted to include your email because I think you’re setting a great example of trying to do something positive. I hope your response went well. I wish I could answer all the requests I get in this regard, but I simply can’t.
