A friend of mine was very excited at the opportunity of meeting you and maybe talking with you about, among other things, A Generous Orthodoxy...
...We were forming some questions to ask and more than likely we will as we personalize what we have read. I'm tired of church/association/denomination politics that squelch any voice (and that can include the voice of God...not saying you are God...but maybe a voice of reason) that appears to contradict their agendas.
I also read Dr. Mohler's comments about your book (and about you) at http://www.crosswalk.com/news/weblogs/mohler/?adate=2/16/2005#1313087 and noticed that his posting and the date they withdrew their invitation were very close ( I know I'm bordering on conspiracy theorist...I'll try not too).
Essentially I just wanted you to know that I have appreciated (in my limited experience thus far) your writings and your insights. More than anything you have made me think about faith, works, evangelsim...sorry, spiritual friendships and what we should be about doing.
Thank you and I do have questions on the way but thought I should start by letting you know that my friend is saddened by your absence and that I am excited about what God is doing through you. May you and your family be blessed and protected by the great God of heaven,
Answer: Thanks so much. I think Dr. Mohler misunderstood a number of things in my book, but perhaps this is due to a lack of clarity on my part as a writer, so he shouldn’t be criticized.
